After we receive a liquid damaged phone, we follow these basic procedures to restore it.
DISASEMBLY- The entire phone is disassembled, because that's the only way to determine which components were effected. Major components include the following: LCD, flex cable, circuit board, keyboard, speaker, vibrator, and the camera.
INSPECTION- After all components are removed, they are inspected to see if any oxidation is present. Any component with oxidation will be processed.
PROCESSING- Each component that has damage is processed. Processing can be done several ways, depending which part is damaged, and depending on the material the part is made of determines the method of cleaning that we use.
circuit board processing- Items that are attached to the circuit board are removed, for example the keypad, keyboard, speakers, and the microphone. Once all critical components are removed, the circuit board is placed into an ultrasonic chamber, filled with a 14% concentrated cleaning solution.
The ultrasonic machine is key to the proper cleaning of the circuit board because it uses sound waves to blast the microscopic debris free from the chips. The sound waves pass throughout the liquid and hit whatever they bounce off. Being in the ultrasonic tank, millions of sound waves are pulsed throughout the solution every minute, freeing the debris from the circuit board.
Component processing- Other components exposed to oxidation such as the LCD, flex cable, camera, etc are processed et here inside the ultrasonic machine, or may be manually processed if they are to fragile to be totally submerged.
INSPECTION- After the components are cleaned, they are inspected. If oxidation is found, we treat that specific area with a 100% concentrated cleaning solution and let it soak for several hours. After that, the parts are ether manually scrubbed or they are placed back into the ultrasonic chamber. Eventually all oxidation is removed and the component is ready for testing. If oxidation is extreme and it cant be removed, that component is replaced.
TESTING- The phone is powered on for several hours, (if any problems develop, they usually do so within the first 30 minutes or so) By keeping it powered up for several hours prior to testing, we are ensuring you wont get the phone, only to notice that a new problem has developed. After several hours, every testable function is carried out (the reception, charger port, speakers, microphone, all buttons, etc). For a complete list on testing specifics, see our testing info.
FINAL ASCEMBLY- Once the phone passes all tests, the phone is final assembled. The LCD is lifted and professionally cleaned to ensure all dust is removed between the LCD and lens. The back of the phone is clipped into place, and all screws / caps are reinstalled.
